Paddle Boats

For Mother's Day, the one thing that I wanted to do was go paddle boating!! I may have underestimated the effort that it took to paddle that boat, but Blake and I had an amazing day at Pullen Park together. This is one of our favorite places!

Mothers Day

One of my favorite days of the year is Mothers Day!!! It is a day in which we not only get to celebrate our mothers, but also women in general! I think women are so amazing and strong. I know that I have learned so much from my mother and grandmothers... and also other amazing women around me! We all have the ability to balance so many things. We are the right balance between strength and gentleness. It is an amazing beauty to watch!

This year I am especially grateful to honor my mom. Recently with all that has been going on, I have tried to be a source of support for her. Many people have said that I am strong, just like my mom. That has been the greatest source of comfort to me...and also a great compliment because she has been so strong this past month!

I was also thrilled to celebrate MY motherhood experience. And it is by far the best and most wonderful thing in my whole life!!! I LOVE BEING BLAKE'S MOM! He is the most amazing kid and I am the happiest person in the world because of him. I am so grateful for the adventures that we have and the bond that we have created.

Part of celebrating motherhood was Blake's Muffins For Mom at his school. It was so cute to see the kids serving us as mothers. Blake made a cute little craft and "All about Mom" project. He said I was 32, I weigh 40 pounds, I drink Mountain Dew, and I say 'I love you" all the time! He was spot on!! :)

Rough May

May started out rough for our family.... so I will be posting several posts on the same day in order to catch up.

First of all... My mom was put in the hospital for two weeks due to complications from her gallbladder surgery in November. It started after our Spring Break trip to Pilot Mountain. She was dealing with a bile duct tear, internal bleeding, a stomach infection, and an infection in her eye. Poor thing has had a tough time! She has become so weak and really struggled.

In the meantime, we lost our Papa Johnson. :( Thankfully he went peacefully in his sleep and we are grateful for the knowledge that he is with Granny again. Blake of course had a hard time with it because he was so close to Papa. We were just there last month!

This has been a tough month for all of us so far BUT it makes me so thankful for all of the wonderful memories that we have all made together.
