Class of 2030

Watch out schools everywhere... here comes the Class of 2030!!!! What?!?!?!? That sounds so crazy but that is Blake's expected graduation year! My heart almost stops just thinking about it.

Today was a huge day because Blake started Kindergarten!!! In Wake County they do a thing called staggered entry. Basically he goes to school one day this week and then will start full time next week. It is a way to ease them into the routine I guess.

Blake was so excited when he woke up this morning. He was most thrilled about showing off his new bookbag, lunch box, and shoes! He thought he was going to be the coolest "new kid" and I agreed!

Blake walked right into the school this morning and jumped into the seat work that the teachers had out. He said goodbye and didn't look back. I was so proud of him... and then I went to the car and just cried. How did  he grow up so quickly?!!?!

As a parent I think I felt every feeling possible today. Mostly I was so excited for him! I loved school and I want him to as well. I know he is ready! I am proud of him and I know he is one smart cookie! But I also have to naturally admit that I am nervous, too! This is one of the first times that he is becoming independent. I can't shelter him from everything and I somewhat have to let go and just hope that I raised him right so far!

When we went to pick Blake up, he smiled and then spend the rest of the day telling me about Kindergarten. He told me his likes and dislikes and then he seemed a little surprised when I said he has to go back next week. Haha.

Friday we get to go to Meet The Teacher and we will get to see his classroom! :)

Solar Eclipse

The talk of the US this past Monday, August 21st, was the Solar Eclipse! It was a once in a lifetime experience to see the moon cover the sun at about 2:30 in the afternoon! You even had to order special glasses in order to view the eclipse, otherwise you would basically burn your retina.

I got Blake and my dad a pair of eclipse glasses. Dad was watching Blake for me while I was at work on Monday for teacher workdays. Little did I know, they let us out of work a little early so that we could also view the eclipse. Thankfully I was able to get home just in time to view the eclipse with dad and Blake! It was very cool to see!

So let the record show... we viewed the Solar Eclipse of 2017!!

WOW! We were super busy and each thing was a blast! We packed the 9 week break full of stuff. The best part of all... our adventures NEVER end. During the Summer break I already planned some fun things for later in the year! We love our Mommy and Son fun!

First Lost Tooth

Blake lost his first tooth!!!!! Ah! How did I, as parent, totally forget that this happens?!?!

Blake called me over the other night to say that something was weird with his tooth. Sure enough that little bottom tooth was wiggling all over the place. I also almost passed out!!! I have quickly learned that losing teeth is not my favorite part of parenting. It makes me feel light headed and sick. Blake on the other hand was super excited! After about two days of wiggling it came out! And just in time for our regular dentist appointment.

Blake and his toothless mouth are so stinkin cute! He also has no cavities and got a good report from the dentist. AND the Tooth Fairy came! She left him a fairy dusted letter and also $5 - the first tooth apparently brings in the big bucks from the Tooth Fairy! Always something exciting with Blake!

Science is Cool

This Summer has been a great one for exploring some of the great museums that are in Raleigh. We just explore the Museum of Natural Sciences for the first time! It was so amazing. There were two buildings full of prehistoric fossils, NC habitats, weather, DNA, space, and more!

As always, our favorites are the dinosaurs. I still think it is funny that Blake is a little scared of them. He will not turn his back to them because he is scared they will come alive! I have to admit, they are rather life like!

There were also lots of other neat exhibits. The museum outlined all of the habitats in the NC area: ocean, piedmont, and mountains.

Finally, my favorite part was the bridge that joined the two big buildings together. It was an outside bridge that went over one of the busy streets of downtown Raleigh!!!! It was so awesome to look at! We love that city view and all of the hustle and bustle below us!

I  love showing Blake little pieces and parts of the world! They are our adventures. Seeing the amazement and learning in his eyes is an awesome feeling! The world is yours, little one!!!

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Happy Birthday to my daddy! He is 58!! WOW! :) Haha.

Blake and I took him to Shorty's for lunch and then we went to the Candy Store. Finally we topped it all off with a cake and a gift! We love our GG. He takes such good care of us and is a top notch neighbor.

Life & Science Exploration

Each Summer Blake and I visit the Museum of Life and Science! It is such an exploration and an adventure. This time I think we conquered all that it had to offer!

We rode the train and screamed while going in the train tunnel! We made music! We climbed and posed with every cool thing there.

We discovered Dinosaurs! Blake didn't want to turn his back to any of them because he thought they might come alive! Haha.

We climbed to the top of the tree house! Including the rope bridges...  and I might have conquered my fear of heights and claustrophobia, Haha.

And finally we chased butterflies in the butterfly garden. Sadly they didn't land on us though. Haha.

We really do love this museum. We can't always enjoy it frequently, but we make the most of it when we go!!
