WF Virtual Activities

Having a newborn during a COVID phase means that we can't really go out to public places - we have to be even more careful than normal times. That is hard when you also have an energetic 9 year old. Thankfully the Town of Wake Forest has done a few virtual competitions and activities!

The first activity is a Virtual Fishing Tournament. They boys signed up to see if they could catch the biggest bass fish in WF. The guys went to our favorite fishing hole...the family pond! Normally they just fish from the banks, but this time they took the little paddle boat out in order to try to catch the big ones! They didn't disappoint. Blake caught the biggest fish  - almost a 3 pound bass! Joyner also caught one that was pretty close behind. They turned in their weights and info into the tournament and they won 3rd place! It was amazing and they even won a prize filled with some fishing goodies. It was a perfect solution to keeping Blake occupied outside while we had a newborn!

The next activity was a walking challenge. We had to walk 50 miles in the month of May. We walked our butts off and we had to sneak in those last few miles. This was a big task that we underestimated, but we had a blast walking some trails in WF! This was also a BIG deal bc it was on these walks that Blake learned to ride his bike! It just clicked and he has been riding ever since. :)

Kinsley 1 Month

Kinsley is 1 month old! I can't believe it's already been 4 weeks. Perhaps we are just sleep deprived and life is a whirlwind...but man, time is flying!

This little mermaid is 8lbs and 21.5 inches long! She is already growing so much. She has far passed her birth weight and is even an inch longer. She will for sure be a tall one. She has loved her first doctor visits and she has done so well.

Kinsley has gotten LOTS of love this month as she has met her family. There have been so many snuggles and hugs and kisses. I can't wait for the day she knows how loved she is. Blake is still in school, but he has loved getting in snuggles before and after school. He always asks to hold her and that just melts my heart.

Speaking of holding - we hold her all the time. I don't believe we can spoil her! She is such a beautiful little girl! I think she looks like Joyner. Some have said she even looks like Blake. I am not sure anyone says she looks like me, but maybe that will change as she gets older.

She is starting to become more aware. Her little eyes are starting to stay open longer and she is taking in the world. She even gives a little smirk or a smile if you catch her at the right time. She has exciting adventures as she goes on her first outings to the baseball field to cheer on her big brother! We don't really take her anywhere else yet, so she gets to enjoy the outdoor activities. She also enjoys our family walks. So far she is a great eater and sleeper and just the best baby we could ask for. :)

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day! One of my favorite days of the year.

We got to celebrate Mother's Day on two different occasions this weekend. On Saturday we hosted a Mother's Day lunch for our own mothers. They got to come and enjoy some baby snuggles! We even had my sister Taylor there and her baby boy Owen - this is her very first Mother's Day! These two moms are pretty amazing for all they have done, can continue to do, for us. We love them so much.

On Sunday we got to celebrate my own Mother's Day! I wanted to go to Pullen Park with my family. It is one of my favorite places. I wanted a picnic and to play with my kiddos and spend time with my family.

Mother's Day is one of my favorite days because it is my favorite job and purpose. Being a mom to Blake and Kinsley is my greatest adventure and accomplishment. It is my purpose and role in this life and the thing that I love most! Being a mother is the best. I know I am not a perfect mom, but I hope they will always know how much I love them and how much I do for them. All I want is for them to be happy and healthy in life. I never thought I would have the opportunity to have a second child, so this Mother's Day is a special celebration. :) I am SO blessed.
