PreK Graduation Day

Let's see if I can write this post without crying... haha! Blake is not officially a PreSchool Graduate!! He had his ceremony yesterday at the Kids Educational Center! He and 6 other students celebrated their graduation and they will proudly be moving on to Kindergarten next year!

The ceremony was short but oh so sweet. They recited the Pledge of Allegiance...and yes they knew it by heart! They also sang a few songs about their colors, numbers, days of the week and months! He has clearly learned a lot while in PreK. They also recited a poem about going to PreK. There was also a lovely little refreshment party afterwards. The kids did really well during the ceremony. Blake stopped a few times to wave and say hello to his many friends and family in the audience. HAHA!

Of course I cried, but they were tears of joy and pride! Blake amazes me so much! He is going to be my one and only... so part of my heart was breaking at the thought of how quickly time is moving. I try to literally feel and save every moment. In this case I am just so proud and so excited about the many things a head of him! Oh the places he will go!

Ryan and I ate lunch with Blake afterwards and we got him Salvage, a transformer, that he had been wanting for a long time as a graduation gift! I think he was pretty happy about it.

Yesterday was a beautiful day! once of those days that sticks with you for a long time! I couldn't be more proud of Blake and I just so lucky I am his mom!

Mothers Day - Part 2

What day is today?! TODAY IS MOTHERS DAY! The day we get to celebrate amazing women!

Blake was with Ryan this weekend, so I had the opportunity to run a 5K with some of the most amazing mothers and friends I know! Each one of them inspires me and is an example to me in their own way. It was a crazy hard course - lots of hills - but we rocked it all together! And I got my first 5K medal! There is not other medal I would want! Proud to Run Like A Mother!

After the race I came home just a little before Blake came home. Before he came home, I got to reflect on my life as a mother. It is honestly the most amazing job I could ever have. I think God every day for letting me be Blake's mom. He is my rock. We have had so many adventures together and I look forward to so many more!

Mothers Day - Part 1

It's Mother's Day weekend. For some reason I always get super emotional when it comes to "Mothers". Mothers are awesome! First of all, we grow little humans inside of us! Man, that is amazing! Then, the second that we have our first child, our life is turned upside down. Really it's not even called "our life" anymore. It's the child;s life, because that is what we mothers do... we put our kids first.
Mother's love and sacrifice so many things for their children. I have heard countless stories and they all touch me in so many levels I was blessed to have a wonderful mom and grandmothers! I am forever grateful that they taught me how to be kind, loving, and materal. I am even more grateful that they showed me how to be strong and fierce. They have been on constant example of the direction I need to move in life. They have been there in every major moment of my life, the good and the bad. It is that support that has turned me into who I am today! The blood lines of women in my family are forces to be reckoned with... and I am so glad that I am one of them.

Kindergarten Open House

Blake got to visit :big school" this week for Rolesville Elementary's Open House! He did such a great job! We have been talking about going to kindergarten for awhile now, but this was the first time he got to really see what it was going to be like.

The school put on a hot dog dinner! Blake was able to go down the "lunch line" to get his dinner. Just like he will do when school starts. He was so excited he couldn't dit still whil ehe was eating. They gave him a colored name tag - his was green. I tried to prepare him for why they gave him a color. The kids were going to get called by color to go visit a kindergarten classroom. While they were there, we parents would go to the Media Center for a parent information session.

I obviously had way more trouble with it all compared to Blake. When they called his green color, he got up and excitedly walked across the cafeteria and got in line with the teacher. He turned and waved and gave me a thumbs up. And just like that he turned and walked off with his little group. All smiles. Meanwhile my heart was ripped out. I am SO clad he is a social, confident, intelligent, great kid... but man time is flying too fast! I can't believe he is to the point where he is going to school. My one and only just growing up and not needed me as much. Whew... gets me!

When we went to get him after the information session he was playing at a play dough table with 3 other kids. He was so happy! He got to tell me later about the different centers that he did and the little friends that he made.

Now he can really see what it will be like to go to kindergarten in September. I am so excited for this adventure he has a head of him!!

6 Sundays

Wake Forest has a thing called 6 Sundays in Spring. It is were we all celebrate the 6 Sundays in Spring by eating, relaxing and enjoying outdoor music. It is a super fun thing and it is very chill and a good vibe. I suggested that the whole family go instead of doing the typical Sunday dinner at my moms house. So... we all took our food, kids, chairs, blankets, dogs, and more to Joyner Park to enjoy a Sunday evening and listen to some live music.
