Teriffic Kid

Today was a long Monday... sigh... Monday....
BUT, I came home and checked Blake's folder where I was surprised to find a letter from the Principal. AH! The Principal!?! What in the world?! As I kept reading, I discovered that Blake had been selected as this month's TERRIFIC KID for showing the character trait of RESPECT! YES!

My little mommy heart is beaming with pride! The Terrific Kid program is set up so that two students are chosen each month as a Terrific Kid for representing the character traits of the school. They kid their picture  and a message/description posted on a school bulletin board. THAT IS MY KID!! :) Within the first month of school, Blake was chosen for representing Respect. I am so proud of my little one. He has had such a great first month and this is literally the icing on the cake!

I couldn't be more proud of him! Sometimes there are moments in which all parents question the effect they are having on their kids. Are they raising them right? Are their kids making the right choices when they aren't around? THIS was the best reassurance that hard work is paying off! I am so excited about the little gentleman he is becoming. Keep up the good work, Buddy!

Friday Night Lights

This week Blake and I did a date night to the football game at my school. Blake loves going because all of my students just eat him up with attention. He also idolizes the older football boys. :)We had such a good time and I love that Blake is finally at the age where he can really enjoy the game!

The football boys have the tradition of lining up and going down the stadium steps. Blake loved being able to give them high fives as they came down. Good Luck! Wake Forest, Cougar Pride!

Buddy Run

Today I got to do my 7th running race and my 6th race with Rita. Sadly it wasn't much of a race... I was sick and we haven't trained at all. Still, it was fun and we conquered it! It has also inspired me to get my butt back in shape!!! :)

Kindergarten Life

Our kindergarten routine has been the focus of this week! It has been our first full week of kindergarten! We had lots of things to get used to... before school care, kindergarten itself, carpool, new friends, long days, packing lunches/snacks, and so much more!

First of all, I have to say that Blake is AMAZING!!! He has impressed me so much this week and I couldn't be more proud of his great adjustment to kindergarten life. I think he transition better than I did! :)

Getting information out of Blake can sometimes be hard, but thankfully his teacher has a class app so that I can " fill in the blanks" of his day. Haha. Here is what WE have learned from the first week of kindergarten....

  • Blake's PreK friend Cody also goes to Before School Care! That has made our mornings so easy!
  • Blake is awesome at making new friends at school! He has lots!
  • Mrs. Walker thinks Blake has a great sense of humor. She says he makes her laugh throughout the day. (class clown in his future?!)
  • Blake got a "surprise" for being the best listener in his class on Friday! YAY!
  • I have not messed up the carpool diagram yet. Very serious thing! Haha.
  • I can get lots of reading done during carpool afternoons!
  • Blake left his lunchbox one day... it was recovered by his teacher withing 30 minutes. They are on it!
  • Blake's class did art class, a practice fire drill, letter dance time, and more this week!
  • Packing lunches isn't as fun as it actually sounds. Mommy sigh...

That was a lot for a 4 day first week! This week Blake's teacher starts giving behavior points. Hopefully Blake collects lots of points and makes us proud!!! Seeing him succeed so early has made my momma heart so proud. I honestly didn't know what this first week of school would look like for us and so far it has been a pure joy! So excited to see what else comes from this year in Mrs. Walkers kindergarten class!
