Wiggins Vacation - Topsail Beach

Remember back in May when the Wiggins Family took a vacation to White Lake?! We did it again...only this time we went to Topsail Beach. It was such an amazing weekend!

First of all, I considered this a second chance for a great family vacation. When we went to White Lake, it was literally about a week after Ryan left. I was such an emotional mess that I didn't enjoy the trip at all. I was physically there, but I wasn't mentally or emotionally there. I felt like I was just a zombie and I missed out on a lot of good times with the Wiggins crew. This time I was in a totally different place and I was SO excited about spending this time with Blake and the Wiggins family!

Most importantly, I loved having this trip with Blake. He has changed so much since the last time he was at the beach. He now loves the sand and the water. He really loved the little tidal pools that would collect after high tide. Blake would jump all over those things and splash in the water. He even got to the point where he would get his ankles we in the ocean! He enjoyed jumping the little waves or either he would run away and yell, "Waters coming!!!!" Haha. I loved seeing him take it all in and explore the beach. Those are moments that I am so grateful that I get to experience with him. Those moments together are priceless and I loved every single second!

*** So.... funny side story. This weekend also marked the first time Blake had to go to Urgent Care! Blake woke up Saturday morning and said his right foot hurt. He wouldn't put any weight on it! I figured it was just asleep and he had that awful tingly feelings. Well, a few hours later he still wouldn't put any weight on it. He wouldn't even chase the other kids, so at that point I thought something might actually be wrong. I figured that maybe he twisted it somehow the day before. Just to be safe, we took Blake to urgent care. I wanted to make sure something wasn't broken or seriously injured. We waited FOREVER at urgent care. It was rather annoying. Blake decided that he would walk around and be just fine right before the doctor came in. Seriously... he fooled me! He started walking around the room and jumping up and down like his foot was just fine. The doctor came in and I felt like an idiot trying to explain how he was actually hurt earlier. HAHA! The doctor just smiled and said he looked ok. No, duh! Anyway... back to the beach we went and we were grateful that it was just a "false alarm".

Blake loved playing with the Josh and Jordan. He thought he was big stuff just like them. He would follow them everywhere and he loved playing their video games. :) We were also excited that we could all get together to enjoy Memommy!

Blake is also a GDaddy's boy. He loves his GDaddy and he got to spend some fun time with him. He had GDaddy going all over the place playing in the sand and going on walks to the pier. They are something else!

Blake really wore himself out. He took great naps and slept soundly at night. Luckily in those moments I was able to have some "Sarah Time". I have always said that the beach can heal anything. I loved having some moments of clarity to relax and refocus myself. It was so beautiful and it was perfect for clearing my busy mind. It also healed the soul a little too!

We had a blast! I hope that we can keep these Wiggins Family Vacations going!!! Blake and I are so blessed to be able to have the trips together. They are memories we will keep forever.

Painting it Purple

This past weekend Blake went to visit Ryan and I went to Pirate Nation with my family to visit Taylor! We were lucky enough to get some great football tickets and we were also about to spend a little time with Taylor for her birthday. It was a perfect Fall day for a football game and we couldn't have asked for a better time.

Book Worms

Many parents argue over what personal traits their child may have inherited from them. ... looks, temperament, etc... but there is no doubt that Blake got his love for reading from ME! :) We are a pair of book worms in our home.

Currently I am reading a book called Stay Strong by Demi Lavato. It's about her overcome struggles and addictions and more in her life. Although I am not experiencing addiction, I am dealing with some struggles of my own. This book is so uplifting and encouraging on so many levels. Great read and I am very grateful for awesome friends who recommend these books to me! :)

Blake has several favorite books right now. His top favorite right now is Brown Bear, Brown Bear. He has almost memorized the words. It is always a great bedtime read. He also loves an Olaf Counting book, Goodnight Moon, and some of his Disney books. We read about 2-3 books at bedtime, but it is not uncommon for Blake to make time for some book time at other times during the day. I love love love it!!!

Jumpin Beans Date

Today Blake and I went on a date to Jumpin Beans! He loves this place because it has two HUGE inflatables that he can jump and slide in. I love it too when it's not too busy. We try to get there right when they open so that I can jump and play with him some before all of the other kids get there. I love spending time with this little guy!!
ps- last night when I was putting Blake to sleep, he put his arm around me and said "I love you mommy. You're my buddy". Melt my heart!!! Can I keep him this age forever?!!?

Blake Lightyear

It's Blake Lightyear to the rescue!!!!

"Rea" and Papa went to get some clothes for Blake and they came across this treasure - a Buzz Lightyear jacket! This was the first time I have ever seen a toddler get excited about clothing. He was excited to infinity and beyond!!!! Haha. I actually think that Blake thought it was a costume. He immediately wanted to wear it and fly around. He also thought that the "buttons" on it were real. It was the cutest thing! Frankly I hope the weather temps start to get cooler because I am pretty sure he will want to wear this every day. :)

We have enjoyed a nice and relaxing weekend together which matched the gloomy-ish weather perfectly. Just a good weekend for us to recharge before our busy week starts. This little man is the best companion for me and I love him SO much for being by my side and being the best little boy in the world!! When laying down at night he will wrap his arm around my neck and he says he is "mommy's buddy". Now that is pure happiness to this momma!! :)
