Durham Bulls

Last Saturday Blake and I decided to spend the day in Durham at the Durham Bulls game! We had a blast getting there early - we walked around the Tobacco Road area and we got some pizza at Mellow Mushroom! It was a gorgeous day for a little exploring before the game!

Blake was so excited about the game. He also got a new jersey and a little wooden bat! The game started off somewhat slowly but Blake loved asking questions about the game. He is starting to understand the balls versus strikes. He also loved seeing the players try to steal the bases. He has learned so much when it comes to understanding the actual game!

The game finally picked up around the 7th inning. We saw 2 home runs and Blake was so excited! We also got to see the Bulls win and fireworks after the game. We had the best time!

Now Blake gets to wrap up his Rookie Season - Hopefully he remembers somethings from the Bulls game and his team can pull off a tournament win! :)

Run Like A Mother

Happy Mother's Day! Recently for Mothers Days I am trying to do little adventurous "experiences" with Blake. Something for him and I to celebrate our Mommy/Son bond together.

This year Blake has been super into running. He does the Walking/Running club at school on Friday and is in the Top 100 Lap Club. Clearly this kid has some speed! So I decided that for Mother's Day this year we would do the YMCA's Run Like a Mother 1 Mile Fun Run. I asked Blake this morning if he was ready and he responded "I was born ready!" Oh the truth to that statement and the irony of it being said on Mother's Day! Haha.

We were also so grateful that my mom and Taylor could join us as we celebrate Blake's first race and our day as women! I loved all the support and love between us!

When it was time to race, Blake took off! Oops- I wasn't totally ready for that. He took off and didn't stop. I was running it with him. See, here is this difference between a Mom's brain and her son's brain. I pictured this nice race where we ran beside each other the whole time and jogged the 1 mile - crossing the finish line together. Blake's brain thought - this is a race and im gonna go as fast as possible to beat everyone. Yep, he smoked me!!! He ran the mile in like 7 minutes. I took a little longer! HAHAHA! Thankfully my mom and Taylor were at the end of the race to catch him. He did great and even got a ribbon!

Now maybe we can both train to do a 5K sometime!

Baseball and Besties

We had an epic baseball milestone this past week - Blake got his first baseball injury! While batting, the ball somehow bounced off his hand or the bat and popped him right in the nose. It bled but thankfully wasn't broken. No teeth or black eyes resulted from it either! Yay! He was startled and of course it hurt, so Blake sat out for a little bit. My little mommy heart figured we would be done for the night. I was also worried that Blake would start to be scared of the ball from here on out. Boy was I wrong! Blake actually wanted to go back in the game - he said he hadn't actually hit the ball yet! Haha. I was SO proud of his strength and perseverance. He also impressed his teammates and coaches for coming back into the game! Later in that game he hit a line drive to 3rd and finally made a great base hit for that game!

Blake also got to play Hunter (his bestie) twice this weekend. One game was a normally scheduled game and one was a rain make-up game. I love it when these two boys play against each other. They are so  competitive but they also cheer each other one at the same time. True friendship! They even lucked out and got the see Muddy the Mud Cat before their game! Both boys played great games!

Meet in the Street

Wake Forest hosts is annual Meet in the Street every year on the first Saturday of May! I remember when I was little my mom would always take me. I even remember a few years that I performed with my little dance group. Haha.

This year it was exciting to take Blake and carry on the family tradition. Meet in the Street has grown! It used to be literally only one street and now it carries over to 3 streets! One whole street is dedicated to kids activities. They had the bouncy houses and everything else. It was Blake's favorite thing. We had such a great time beating the heat together! :)
