Marvels Live

We all know that I love my share of Mommy/Son Dates. I am always on the lookout for something new and adventurous for Blake and I to do. Well... this past Summer/Fall I came across the perfect event! Marvels LIVE was coming to Raleigh! ALL of the Marvels superheros, along with Guardians of the Galaxy, would be there and taking the audience along on an adventure to save the day. Umm... how could I not do this?!?!

Tickets were purchased months in advance and the hard part was keeping my mouth shut until last week. I was SO excited to tell Blake about it and even more excited to see his face when we got there. He has been obsessed with superheros for years and his interest continues to grow. He loves his Lego Superhero Nintendo game.

Since playing his video game, he has really been interested in Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy. He loves how he can be small one second and then grow into a large living tree the next second. Groot's best buddy is Rocket the Racoon, so of course Blake likes him too. Naturally we got both as souvenirs!

We had a blast and I think this event was perfect for Blake's age! He was able to see the whole gang in action!

Blizzard of 2018: Day 2

The snow fun got even better on Snow Day 2! The temperatures were a little warmer, but that made it a little easier to play in. Sledding was the best!

Blake, Roxie, and I woke up early to get some good play time in before snow started melting too much. We had a blast sledding together. Blake and I each had our own sled and I would hold them together as we sled down the hill together. We did that too many times to count!

Roxie loved it when Blake would throw snow at her. She would try to catch it and eat it!

After lunch and a little bit of rest, we went back out for round 2 of snow play! This time we had an extra playmate - Ryan! Blake usually spends Thursdays with Ryan. The snow made it kinda difficult for Blake to go anywhere, so Ryan came to him. We all had a great time playing in the snow. The guys even tried to build snow forts, but it ended up with them just jumping in it and burying each other in it.

The temps got a little too high yesterday and the snow really started to melt. It is crazy how it took a whole day to build up, but then only a few hours to start to disappear. I am SO sad to see it go! For me, snow brings a bit of calmness and peace into my life. It slows everything down a little bit and allows me to catch up on my normal hectic grind. It is a time for me to notice the small beauties of the world again and the happiness and blessings that I have in my life. I am beyond grateful that we got this magical Winter Wonderland for a few days!!

Blizzard of 2018: Day 1

We actually got snow!!!! And lots of it! The perfect, fluffy kind of snow that we have been waiting SO long for! And it happened in Rolesville, NC! Miracles, people!

We woke up on Wednesday to a chill morning. We were actually somewhat nervous and lacking hope with the projected forecast; however, at around 9:00 or 10:00 it started to snow! Beautiful snow that fell ALL DAY LONG! At some points it was even a white out!

We were so lucky to be able to stay at home and watch such a beautiful thing. It took a little while before it started to stick, but around mid afternoon it really started to pile up! We couldn't take it any longer, so Blake and I went out to start enjoying the snow! It was sp much fun to play while it was still falling! We had a snow fight and we even tried sledding a little, but the sledding was hard because it just wasn't slick enough at that point. Just being out in it was fun!

We even made SNOW CREAM! I think this was Blake's first try of snow cream and he liked it! :)

It's days like these that I am especially grateful for my little family and this beautiful life that we live! It's all of the little things that makes a happy and full heart!

Beginning Body Boss

I still consider myself young and I am naturally skinny (thanks, mom), but I am not really in the best of shape. For being so young, I am usually really tired and I get out of breath keeping up with Blake. I often am sore from the slightest physical activity and sadly I can't get to the gym as much as I would like.

One thing that is very important to me is keeping up with Blake. He is to the point in his life where he is 100% wild boy! He is adventures and fun and sporty and spontaneous. I love it! But I also want to keep up with him. I want to hang in there and be able to do whatever he can do. Keeping a bond with him is top priority and I never want that to suffer because I can't keep up. I also want to live the longest and healthiest life possible so that I can see him grow up. So.... I have some work to do! Time to get serious about getting into shape and being healthy.

This is where Body Boss comes into my life. It is a 16 week program that I can do at home. Each day it gives me something to do (or a rest day) that will help me build muscle and help my heart and circulation. Exactly what I need!

Today was my first day and it kicked my butt! And before pictures are absolutely humiliating. But I have to admit that I felt really good after doing it. I was thrilled I survived and hello endorphins!!! I am motivated to continue this program and I am really hopefully what for the after pictures will look like! So, cheers to being a Body Boss Girl!

Roller Skating Fun

I am WAY late on this post... but better late than never!

When I was a little girl, we would do family nights at the roller skating rink. I remember having a blast skating around! I think I even had a roller skating birthday party once?!  Anyway, I thought that Blake was at a good age to try it! He is pretty athletic so I thought that he would catch on quickly!

Wrong...

Blake had some major jello legs with roller skates on. He could hardly stand up! HAHA! But the best part was that he laughed the whole time. I think he liked the fact that he kept falling. We made it around the rink a few times but we were totally the wall flowers! :) I don't think we will be rushing to have another roller skating date anytime soon, but we tried!

No Snow Snow Day

It happens every time.... Rolesville, NC gets all excited about snow and we plan for a blizzard... only to get a dusting of snow. UGH! Last week we got our hopes up for 2-4 inches of snow and our area only for like an 1/8 of a inch of snow.

What can you do with less of an inch of snow?!?!?!

Well... You can take a hike with your dog.... We walked across to the other side of the pond and we saw how the pond was frozen over. It looked beautiful. Blake loved navigating his way through the woods.

And find animal prints.... Blake was fascinated by the deer, rabbit, and cat prints. Then  he decided to make a snowball with what little snow we did get! Haha!

And just try to look super cute. He is way better at all of this than I am!!!

Hopefully this wasn't our only snow of the year! Maybe one day we will get our blizzard for our snowman and sledding. Either way, no matter how much or how little of snow we get, I love our snow days together! They always seem to come at the right time when we cause just pause life and spend some time together!
