Meet Jasper!

Blake and I have been really missing Roxie since she passed away. We are a dog family and we love having one to love on - and we thought the summer would be a perfect time to add a puppy to the family. Blake had a few stipulations this time though.... he says we have to have a boy dog and this dog will be HIS dog. :)

We decided to adopt from Saving Grace - and amazing organization that does wonderful things for dogs that need a home. We picked out 4 dogs online that we liked before going to adopt. We figured this would help us keep focused on what we want in a puppy - and of course we were focused on black labs! :)

Rocky was the first dog we got to play with. Rocky was VERY energetic and jump. He was super cute, but blake didn't like all the energy. I think he was a little overwhelmed. Next they brought out Jasper. Jasper walked out and just sat there and looked at Blake. And we instantly fell in love with him! Blake walked him around a little bit and was sold! He wanted Jasper and loved that he was chill - and would fit in perfectly with us! I couldn't agree more!

Here is what we know about our Jasper...
  • He is 4 months old - His birthday is 2/7/19. Blake loved that their birthdays were close together!
  • He weights 25 pounds
  • His litter was born in Saving Grace foster care. Thankfully we know he got great care since he was born!
  • He is already crate trained - so no messes in our house! He is awesome!
  • He sleeps all night on the bed snuggled up beside us.
  • He is quickly learning to love human food - he isn't very patient with that. Haha.
  • He knows sit!
  • He loves long walks around the farm and pond.
  • He loves puppy naps and snuggling - he is more of a snuggle buddy instead of energetic.
  • He loves playing with other pups.
  • He loves our little family - and we love him even more!

By the way - they had the best stools at Saving Grace. You cant take us anywhere... HAHA!

Bye, 1st Grade

How is this year already over?!?! Today we celebrated the end of Blake's 1st grade year. WOW!!!!

He has learned so much this year and made so many new wonderful friends! :) For his little celebration, Ms. Taylor made a slideshow of their class memories and pictures. Oh goodness.... I might have gotten a little teary eyed. As pictures of students came up, the kids cheered for each other. The feeling of "family" was so apparently and their childhood innocence was so pure and sweet. It completely melted my heart and made me so grateful all at the same time!

They then walked the "red carpet" as Ms. Taylor shared a certificate for which character strength they represented. Blake got "Zest and Enthusiasm"! I am not surprised one bit! Blake does everything with energy and excitement - that is just who he is! Yet, while he got his award he was shy and humble. He has my heart in every way and I was bursting with pride as I watched him today.

As parents, on a daily basis we sometimes feel like we are messing things up all over the place! The to-do list didn't get done or we were running late, or we forgot something or we are low on patience... but they you see moments like today where you see you child cheer on his friends, show kindness, stay humble, hold the door for someone, and love his family fiercely. We aren't doing it wrong at all - we are in fact doing an amazing job!

Only about 3 more days left.... then it is officially Summer! And on to 2nd grade!

Yankees Wrap Up

This week Blake finished up another amazing baseball season! Each season he gets a little better, but this season was a major break through! This has been the season where he started regularly hitting the ball and it has been so much fun to watch!

They had their playoff game and unfortunately didn't win, but they gave it their all! Afterwards, their coach awarded them with trophies - of course that made Blake thrilled. All week he has been upset that baseball is over. We have the summer to practice up because Fall Baseball will be here before we know it! :)

Thanks for a great season, Yankees!
