Carolina Blue Skies

One thing that I love about NC is the beautiful Carolina Blue Skies. Blake and I had the best time playing under those amazing skies. I love it! However... the one thing that I don't love is the pollen. I am afraid that we are both suffering from some allergies. Poor Blake loves playing outside, so we tend to just have a lot of tissues on hand.

I also got to inherit my moms porch furniture. I have established the perfect reading post on my porch! Can't wait for summer vacation to start so that I can enjoy some great books and naps outside.

Cary Road Race

Currently my legs are sooo sore, I might have a blister on my foot, and I am exhausted... BUT it was all worth completing my first 10K!!! Yes, you read that right. I actually did a 10K. Thank goodness for my friend Rita who pushed us both to "train" and complete it. I am the type of person who really needed that motivation, otherwise I would've given a long time ago.

In practice runs, I did the 6.2 miles in 90 minutes. That's about a 15 minute mile of walk/run. It seemed that I just wasn't going to get below that time. Sometimes even that was a hard push. So, I decided to let that be my goal for the actual run. If I could complete it in 90 minutes then I was going to be so happy!!! Well, Rita and I officially completed it in 83 minutes!!!! So awesome! That's 7 minutes under my goal (just in case you are mathematically challenged like myself). I don't think we will be doing anymore long runs in the future, but we have talked about doing some other 5K's and maybe trying to work on our time. I think that would be fun.

I am just so proud that I am able to mark this off my bucketlist. This year I told myself that I was going to do things that made my soul happy. I wanted to experience many GOOD things and this was one of them! We will see what's next on my bucketlist... Hmm...

Easter

Happy Easter! We had a wonderful Easter weekend!

Saturday night, Blake went to bed and was anxiously waiting the Easter Bunny. Thankfully he showed up and he left Blake a bunch of goodies... along with some footprints showing his trail. Blake was so funny when he woke up. He said the Easter Bunny left his feet behind. Haha!

On Monday we did several Easter Egg Hunts with GDaddy. Blake loved that! He always gets so excited about playing any time of "hide-and-seek" game. Such a great time!

Pullen Park

One of our favorite places to go is Pullen Park. It is right in the middle of Raleigh and it has been around FOREVER! MY mom went there, I went there, and now Blake loves going there. In the Blake has had different "favorite" things. To begin with he loved the train. Last year he was obsessed with the boats, and this year I think he was a huge fan of the carousel.

We also got to go with Granny and Aunt T! It was a beautiful day for Blake and his favorite ladies! Nothing beats seeing that sweet smile on Blake's face.

March Resolutions

This month was awesome for my book resolution....

I am obsessed with The Great Gatsby and the Fitzgeralds (the author). For Christmas, I used some of my gift card money to get a recently published historical fiction novel about Zelda Fitzgerald. She and Scott Fitzgerald had such a crazy life and love. You almost hate to love them! When looking for the book at the bookstore, I learned that the author of Z (the book) is a local author! I mentioned it to our school librarian and she suggested that we email the author. Her name is Therese Fowler and she is indeed local! She agreed to come to the school and talk to our students! Of course this made reading her book even more fun. I was able to meet a NY Times Bestselling author AND she signed my book! How awesome is that! Such a neat experience. This months book goal will be hard to beat for the rest of the year!

My craft/DIY project this month consisted of my bedroom makeover. Here are the things I did to spruce it up a little...
  • Added memory foam topper and new pillows to the bed. It is so comfortable now!
  • Added a fake tree with string lights in one corner. Nice for reading at night.
  • Hung the craft project from last month
  • Put a framed cork board on the wall to hold ticket stubs, pictures, and cards.
It might not sound like a lot, but these small changes really made my bedroom MINE again. It feels so much more homey now. My favorite thing to do now is to snuggle in bed after Blake goes to sleep and read my book. So relaxing. I am loving this New Year's Resolution I made! It's the end of March and I am still going strong!!! :)

Spring Break

Whew... I am behind with blogging again. This is probably a lame excuse, but I am just so tired at the end of the day. I have gotten to the point where I lay down with Blake in his bed at night, and then I fall asleep and wake up when it's time for me to go to bed. Totally unproductive.

Last week was our Spring Break... kind of. We were supposed to have off the whole week, but we had to make up snow days Monday - Wednesday. On Thursday, Blake and I took Granny to Marbles Kids Museum. Blake has been there several times, but each time he goes he is able to do something new. He loves it... so much in fact that he had his first little fit huge three year old temper tantrum when it was time to leave. He loved dressing up as a fireman and he walked the plank as a pirate! :)

We also got to learn how to fly a kite with GDaddy! Blake loves going out in the field and flying the bird!

Blake also got to spend some time with his dad over Spring Break. While they were having boy time, I was busy running with Rita. Our first 10K is in 2 weeks. Yikes! I am so nervous. It seems that the weather has turned and we are now in Spring full force. We are so excited for our upcoming outdoor adventures!
