Pat on the Back

When I first became a working single mom, I was beyond overwhelmed. I remember being so scared because I just felt like I wasn't going to be able to do it! I felt like I was going to sink. I asked myself questions like, "How in the world will I be able to raise this little boy by myself? How will I be able to handle it all?"

It has been about a year and a half and I have done it... done it all. I have done the holidays alone with Blake, I have done the summers with him and taking him on vacations, I have worked while getting him to and from preschool.... and more!

Today was a hectic day because I have alot going on at school... and then Blake got sick this morning. I had to juggle it all. I had to get to work to make sub plans, put in paper work for two days off, take care of Blake, make him feel comfy, get food and medicine, try to do work at home while Blake is sleeping... As much as I wanted to break down, I stopped to realize that I am doing it! I am getting it all done! No, today wasn't an ideal day... and neither has my life over the past two years, but guess what?! I AM DOING IT! And I am doing a pretty darn good job at it too!

I no longer feel overwhelmed. Instead I feel accomplished. I feel empowered. I feel responsible. I am freaking proud of myself. Being a working single mom is not for the weak. I am about as strong as they come and I am so grateful for how much I have learned about myself during this time. I have clear goals for myself and Blake in the future and I can't wait to conquer them!

Proud of my life with Blake. I am not the same person I was a year ago and I have worked VERY hard for that. Proud mommy....and woman!

Blake's First Field Trip

Last Wednesday was a BIG day for Blake!! He had his first preschool field trip and thankfully I was able to tag along! We went to a pumpkin patch in Cary, NC. More than anything I loved seeing Blake play with his best buddy Hunter. His teacher has always told me that they are a pair together at school, but it was so much fun to see them first hand! I have a feeling we will be having lots of play dates with Hunter in the future! :)

Time is flying by so quickly. As a mom, I can't believe he had his first field trip! There is so much to look forward to him. It is so important for me to make sure Blake has the best education and that he is involved in school. These are just the little things to building that foundation.

Check out these two playing... endless giggles! :)

He got to pick a pumpkin from an actual patch this time!

The boys really enjoyed the hay ride together. It was bumpy!

Swimming in the corn pit....

These boys are growing for sure!

Pumpkin Patch 2015

It is time for my favorite traditions to start!! The trip to the Pumpkin Patch is usually the kick off to my favorite holiday traditions. This year we went to Hillridge Farm as usual. It was actually a little chilly today, but that didn't stop us from having fun!

We had to take the obligatory pumpkin posed picture...

Blake picked a winner! He was smart and got one his size... he had to carry it to the car. Haha.

This picture makes me smile so much.... Ever year he gets of the wagon and does the exact same thing. Runs to the first pumpkin he sees and tries to pick it up. I have so many pics of him in this exact same pose. I guess some things never change... :)

It had been a really tough/hectic week for me, so spending the day with these smiles was just what I needed!

Preschool Spirit Week

Normally I only deal with Spirit Week when it comes to my high school kids. We do it for Homecoming every year (in fact we will do it in two weeks); however, this week we did it on the preschool level! That's right, Blake had his first Spirit Week!!! He loved it. I was really about to see how much personality he has with his little 3 year old self! :)

Monday - Blast from the Past Day
Blake represented the 70's and yes, I tie dyed that shirt myself! It was slightly more work than I thought it would be, but I think it turned out well! Blake liked saying "Peace, dude!" Haha!

Tuesday - Superhero Day
This is every day at our house.... Blake decided to be Batman. Side note - He has dress up costumes for almost every superhero now!

Wednesday - Wacky Tack Day
Blake just enjoyed being goofy today! I think he is naturally quirky like his momma! Haha. It was honesty hard for my to purposely mismatch him today. Oh goodness...

Thursday - Sports Team Day
We have several sports teams, but we easily found a UNC jersey his size, so that was the winner! He is more interested in sports instead of teams. He loves baseball and soccer these days.

Friday - PJ Day
This was the perfect PJ day! We are currently dealing with windy, cool temperatures and tons of rain (thanks to a hurricane). PJ was exactly what one would want to wear in these weather conditions. He loves being comfy all day and he sure did look cute!

This was just the start of Blake's preschool fun this week... lots more to look forward to!
