Rec Day & 1st Game

This past Saturday was a big day in Rolesville and in the life of my little 5 year old boy! It was REC Day, which celebrates Opening Day of Recreation Baseball! The town basically shuts down for a parade and the 1st games of all of the teams! We had so much fun!

First of all... Blake got to pick his first jersey number. He went with the great #5. Now, as adults we can think of mean legends with this same number, but Blake simply picked it because he said he was a big boy and he is 5! Makes sense!

We had so much fun at the parade! The kids got to help decorate the float. As the team mom, I made some banners and decorations for the team float. Blake also LOVED driving by Memommy's house and waving to her and G-Daddy! Blake also got to see his 2nd cousin, Jordan on the older team. Blake thought he was so cool because he knew one of the older guys!

We team parents had no idea that the Town of Rolesville gave out prizes for team decorations. I guess they thought we were pretty awesome because we got 2nd place for the best float! All of the kids got $10 gift certificates to Dicks Sporting Goods! They loved going out on the field to get their prize. What a great way to start the season. Winning already!

Finally came game time... the big first! Blake and his team did great! He loved playing with his cousin, Tristan! Blake was able to hit last in a few innings. In Tball parent lingo that means that he gets to automatically run all the bases. In Blake lingo that meant he totally hit a home run!!! :) Another historical moment in his first game was when he yelled at my while playing 3rd base and said, "Mommy, I have to go potty!" The whole crowd got a big kick out of that one! Haha!

We had such a good time and we can't wait for the rest of the season! Go Marlins!
