Pullen Park

Blake and I kicked off Spring Break with a visit to Pullen Park! We love that place, especially in the Spring. The views were beautiful... and worth the pollen attack. Haha.

Blake used to love the boats. He has always loved the train, but this time he was in love with the carousel. We rode it 3 times and we enjoyed every minute. We also had a picnic by the lake. It was such a great day.

(Check out those muscles!!! HAHA)

Touch the Truck

We are lucky enough to live in a cool community that consistently does interactive things for kids. This week the public library (one of my favorite places!) did a "Touch the Truck" event. They brought in the local fire truck and ambulance for the kids to explore. Blake loved the fire truck. He said he wants to be a fire fighter or a police officer now. :) I love how he can have these learning opportunities about our community and the emergency vehicles.

Harry Potter Novice

                                                                   Image may contain: indoor

I am a little late to the game... like 10 years late... but I have just started reading the Harry Potter series! This is part of the boy mom life! Haha. I am hoping that one day Blake and I can read these books together, so I figured I better read them once first. There are 7 books in the series.... I am currently on the 2nd book and I will be starting the 3rd book soon. And yes, I actually like them! More importantly, I can't wait until Blake and I can enjoy them together!

Happy St.Patricks Day

I am the luckiest!!!

TBall Season Has Started

And just like that... we are a baseball family! Blake is starting his first Tball season with Rolesville Rec League! This is such an exciting time. As a 5 year old we are really starting to see Blake morph into this little boy phase and I love it!

They haven't been given a team name yet, but his little team is the best! Blake's Uncle Clint is the head coach. Blake's dad and Papa are helping to coach and Gdaddy will be there as an umpire. Tristan, his cousin is also a player on the team. And finally... I am the Team Parent! Yep, we are making this a family affair! It is awesome!

I love watching Blake and  Tristan run around out there. Blake was a little hesitant about it his first practice, but by his second practice he was fielding the ball perfectly and hitting pretty well too! I am so proud of him and he seems to be having a lot of fun as well!

Not to mention.... Tball is totally different now compared to when I was a kid. When I was a kid, all you needed was a glove! The team had the rest of the equipment. Nope! Not these days! Now each kid has their own equipment. So Blake has his own baseball bag, helmet, glove, bat, and everything else needed. It is crazy. So yes, I now have my cute little mom SUV with my lawn chairs in the back and Blake's baseball stuff. And so it begins!!! Boy mom life! I wouldn't want it any other way.

31

31 and feeling older than ever. HAHA! I think I have hit the point where bdays aren't that exciting anymore. My family did do dinner and a cake for me and I loved that! Blake was also great at blowing out the candles with me.

I usually do this for Blake... thought it might be fun to do for me as well.

At 31....
  • I am on my 7th year of teaching.
  • I am currently the Team Parent for Blake's Tball team.
  • I LOVE reading... its like my therapy.
  • I wish I ran and exercised more... always a goal.
  • Parenthood and The Real Housewives are my favorite shows
  • I lack sleep on a daily basis and usually fall asleep around 8:30 at night. Old lady status.
  • I am OCD and a perfectionist on most things...so my brain is always working
  • I love watching basbeall...looking forward to Blake getting into it.
  • I want to start hiking more!

The Flu Strikes

Hello... Yes, we are still here. We have been MIA for a little while due to the flu!

Crazy enough, there was a late flu outbreak here in NC and it also included a strand that was not in many flu shots. Blake's PreK and his best friend got it... which then in turn allowed us to get it. These poor kiddos didn't stand a chance.

Blake was actually out of preschool for a little over a week! Thankfully it wasn't the stomach flu. He just had a runny nose, a cough, and a low grade fever. He was also SO tired all the time. Ryan and I took turns staying with him while he was sick. I felt so helpless because he looked to miserable. :( Thankfully the doctor said that we were taking good care of him and that he showed no signs of pneumonia or ear infections, that are often associated with this type of flu.

I am very happy to say that he recovered and just in time for warmer weather and my birthday! We also  have his 5 year old check up and kindergarten registration coming up...oh yeah, and TBall! We are so excited for Spring!
